Fanny Ebner (Nina Proll) is a beautiful 18 year old when she meets Ma Yunlong
(Wang Zhiwen) a Chinese policeman who's training in Vienna. Her life is changed
forever when the two fall madly in love and embark on a whirlwind romance.
Fanny defies her friends and family by following her lover to China, where
they are married. Their brief honeymoon bliss is interrupted by the Chinese
Cultural Revolution, which forces the newlyweds into hiding to escape persecution
by the Communists.
When Yunlong is captured and sent to prison camp, Fanny, isolated from all
friends and family, is forced to find a way to survive in a totally foreign
land. Defying all odds, decades pass but the two maintain an intense level of
commitment and their passionate love survives.
